Study Abroad Programs & Experiential Learning

Explore the modern city of Liverpool and the coastal beauty of Northern Wales!  Students will receive credit for two courses for a total of six credit hours.   Students enroll in two courses, one in Sociology and the other in Political Science. In these courses, students learn about the U.K. criminal justice system and explore variation in crime around the globe.  Both courses count toward the CJ major. Students will be housed at the University of Liverpool, located in the city center and just a few blocks away from parks, restaurants, the waterfront, historical sites, and, of course, the Anfield soccer stadium. The program fee includes lodging, some meals, a trip to mountains and castles in Wales and a visit with the local police force and courts. Scheduled from late June through mid-July, there is no conflict with Maymester classes.  Open to any major. For more information, contact Co-Directors: Dr. Sarah Shannon (Sociology) and Dr. Rich Vining (Political Science) and visit the program website.

Internships

The internship semester is a capstone experience and mandatory requirement of the undergraduate program in Criminal Justice at the University of Georgia. The primary purpose of the internship is to provide students with an opportunity to integrate academic knowledge with experiences obtained during their time as a major in an agency setting. The internship experience also develops skills and knowledge needed to pursue a career in a criminal justice field. These goals are accomplished through the careful placement of students in agencies that adhere to the highest ideals of professionalism.
